Home / About

This site showcases my work in the music industry, from 1991 to date. Most images were shot in Perth, however I’ve also shot music in New York, Tokyo, Israel and Beijing, as well as across Spain whilst touring with Perth rock stars the Chevelles, then a stint shooting bands in Madrid.

Digital work is shot through whatever Nikons best low light pro body happens to be, starting with the D200 in 2007. I’ve consistently used flash to control movement, culminating in shooting wireless flash, with up to five SB flashes at a time via Pocket wizard technology. Most recently, the Lithium power packs have cut recycle time on the flashes, adding a new element to the creative process.

Live music images are shot between 7.5 fisheye (mounted on a D3), 14-24mm zoom, and 16mm fisheye, then the 70 – 200mm and 300mm.

Prior to digital, film is scanned via Polaroid Sprintscan 4000, replaced by the Nikon Coolscan 4000 ED as it was released. While most of this site is focused on music, and photo-journalism, being a freelance in Perth entails shooting almost anything. I've worked out of helicopters and light aircraft, and have covered many weddings, and one funeral. I've also shot fashion, and model portfolios, as well as the usual array of weird stuff photographers come up with, after spending too much time in a studio.

For commercial use of images, drop me a line.

This site is based in West Perth, West Australia.
